There's a long process when it comes to restoring books. First we have to inspect the damage of the book itsel. Many books come to us with mold, water damage, pages missing or even broken spines. So this is our process for sorting through them and restoring them.
This is what happens when water gets on your book.
This is a machine we use to fix book spines.
Unfortunately sometimes the glue doesn't last in the spines.
Place in a dry area with fans on. Try to keep the pages open if you can. Once dry leave under heavy objects to try and flaten the pages. This will help smooth the pages a bit.
Sometimes the spines can break or come undone because of the glue. For this you could try super gluing or buying your own special spine glue. Follow the instructions for the material you decide to use.
If your pages have been torn try not to worry! If you have the pages you can try gluing or using tape. You could also try reprinting a page for yourself as long as the page is readable.
Covers and spines can be one of the harder things to fix when it comes to a book. You can try to glue the cover back on or try sewing it. If the cover has been torn or damaged in some ways it's best to send it in.
If you have any other damages that you feel you cannot repair yourself, feel free to send your book our way! We pride ourselves on restoring books and having a quick turnover rate. Send your books to us!
